Shaykha Maryam Kabeer Faye, author of the autobiography Journey Through Ten Thousand Veils in which she details her personal, private and deeply spiritual journey towards the Divine Presence of God through the path of Islam and Islamic Spirituality, also known as Sufism, is a beautiful example of how, more than anything, it is sincerity and the courage to follow one’s heart and soul, that leads a human being forward, into Truth and towards one’s true being.
We recently had the joy of interviewing Shaykha Maryam Kabeer Faye for Soul of Islam Radio on the subject of her book, Journey Through Ten Thousand Veils, her personal journey into Islam, as well as her vision for a new world and a new reality based and founded in greater love, compassion and consciousness.

Maryam Kabeer Faye, who began seeking truth, wisdom and light at a very early age, and who has personal studied with great teachers of spirituality and meditation such as Guru Ram Dass and Master Suzuki Roshi, ultimately found her highest calling in Islam and its spiritual dimension, Sufism, through meeting living representatives of the Prophet Muhammad (saws), also known as Awliya.
Her journey through ten thousand veils and into the Divine Presence of God took her through many lands and many experiences, from Afghanistan to India to Jerusalem and elsewhere, yet ultimately , it was the inward journey deep into her heart that culminated in awakening experiences and transcendence.
Originally an actress and performer, born in Hollywood, California, and a graduate of the University of California Berkeley, and born into an agnostic Jewish family, Maryam Kabeer Faye felt a deep calling within her to seek the Presence and Reality of God, and with no compass other than her soul, fully and completely surrendered, leaving everything behind and taking nothing but courage, faith, belief and trust in Providence, into the unknown.
By divine grace and will, she was guided, led, carried and cared for every step of the way, meeting remarkable men and women throughout a fantastic journey into guidance and light.
